Summary
With collated video footages from the KBS archives, within South Korea, and overseas, Video Archive “10 days in May” attempts to present what happened during the May 18 Democratization Movement. (a.k.a. Gwangju Democratization Uprising). Previously unreleased footages are discovered and made public. This archive pieces them together with the situation logs in a chronological order of what and how things unfolded in Gwangju. The format of the documentary is simple; laying out events in the chronological order of them taking place and showing what happened during the May 18 Democratization Movement from start to finish. To those already familiar with this painful past, it offers an opportunity to reflect. To the new generation that is unfamiliar, this documentary states truthfully and in a simple manner, what happened back in May of 1980.
