The Clowns

Summary

The continuation of the full-year program Fellini 1920-2020, dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the great Italian director Federico Fellini, brings The Clowns (1970), a docu-fiction film dedicated to the author's fascination with clowns and the circus culture. Partially based on real, partly fictional events, The Clowns is one of the first offshoots of the mockumentary genre. In the first part, Fellini offers a nostalgic, autobiographical look at his youthful fascination with the circus, while in the second part he enters the film with a film crew to interview the remaining famous clowns. The Clowns arrive at the Art-kino program on Thursday, February 20th at 6pm, quite by accident at this Carnival time of the year.
