Summary
As part of the seventh edition of the Impulse Festival, another Rijeka premiere feature is coming to the big screen of Art-kino - Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love.
Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love is the most personal and romantic film in Nick Broomfield's rich documentary career. The story begins on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, where Leonard Cohen, then a still unknown fiction writer, and Marianne Ihlen, a single mother with a younger son, became part of a community of immigrant artists, writers and musicians. Never before seen footage filmed by Broomfield and legendary documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker in a very special way portray a very authentic portrait of an idyllic bohemian life in the 1960s. It was a time that left a lasting mark on both Marianne and Leonard, whose friendship would last fifty years before their death in 2016.
