Let There Be Light

Summary

Rijeka's premiere of the multi-award-winning Slovak drama Let There Be Light by Marko Škop takes place at Art-kino on Saturday, February 15 at 7 pm. Through the story of the family crisis, the film focuses on the rise of xenophobia and nationalism in Central Europe. Milan works as a construction worker in Germany to provide benefits for his family in Slovakia. During a Christmas visit to the home, he discovers that his eldest son, Adam, became a member of a paramilitary group and involved in the bullying and death of his schoolmate. In the process of dealing with a new situation in the family, Milan reveals the truth about his son, about himself and the community in which they live. At the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the director was awarded by the Ecumenical Jury, while the best actor award went to the lead actor Milan Ondrík. The premiere will be attended by the director.
