Summary
The mumblecore king Andrew Bujalski returns with a new attraction - a playwright which speaks about the exploitation of women on the verge of political correctness. Lisa is the boss at a bar whose policy is to hire scarcely dressed waitresses. She takes her job seriously and protects the girls from the inappropriate and crude behavior of the guests. Despite Lisa's commitment to the job, her incompetent, racist-minded boss is constantly looking for a reason to fire her. He sees a good opportunity in Lisa's decision to hire the girls in a car wash to raise money for a colleague who hit her ex-boyfriend with a car. Support the Girls is an insightful portrayal of women in the masculine world and a sympathetic ode to the American working class, in which some of the lead roles carried by the stars of the series Orange is the New Black and the Scary Movie franchise.
