The Lighthouse

Summary

Robert Eggers' movie starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson in lead roles follows two lighthouse keepers who tried to keep their mental health on a mysterious island in the late 19th century. Intolerance between the two main protagonists, severe weather, large amounts of alcohol and the absence of staying in (and) symbolically the most lonely places in the world. This unusual black-and-white psychological thriller was featured in the Directors' Fortnight program of the Cannes Film Festival, at which it received the FIPRESCI Award, and was also nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Photography category. A visually remarkable movie that is viewed exclusively on the big screen.
