Program
Valentine's Day is celebrated at Art-kino with Billy Wilder's Double Date. For all those in love (in movies), there are two Wilder comedies on program, starring the same actors - Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. The double date begins at 5pm with the movie Irma The Sweet (1963), an adaptation of the eponymous musical by Alexandre Breffort. The story of a good-natured Parisian cop in love with prostitute Irma, a commercially and critically acclaimed adult fairy tale, with brilliant acting interpretations of Lemmon and MacLaine, who successfully restored the chemistry from the three-year-earlier filmed Wilder's The Apartment, which will be screened after Irma The Sweet, at 8pm. Repeating the success of Some Like It Hot, Wilder won an Oscar for Best Picture for The Apartment, which brings the story of an employee of a New York company who is moving on up in his business by letting his bosses to use his apartment for their love affairs, until he himself don't fall in love with one of their mistresses. Two films for the price of one guarantee a double laugh.
