The series of movies created by the Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci starts on 2nd of December with the politcal drama The Conformist (1970.), the directors adaptation of Alberto Moravia's novel, whose storyline is focused on the psycho-social characterization of the main character named Marcello (Jean-Louis Trintignant), who is a cultivated and insensitive bureaucrat whose modus operandi is to strive for a position of suitability in every system, no matter the cost. We continue the series on 9th of December with his most controversial work, the erotic drama Last Tango in Paris (1972.) which with it's dramatic color palette (thanks to the cinematographer Vittori Storaro) paints the relation between the middle-aged American Paul (Marlon Brando) whose wife commited suicide and the young Frenchwoman Jeanne (Maria Schneider) who serves him as a sexual haven and an escape from the experience of loss. On 16th of December the biographical drama awarded with nine Oscars, The Last Emperor (1987.) will be displayed. It follows the last Chinese emperor Puu Yiu (Richard Vuu/John Lone) whose life circumstances are completely determined by opposing ideologies and their relation to his symbolic status.
